About

We are all descendants of Watt Onley.  This information has been validated by processing of shared DNA matches.

This website is made possible through the research and the creation of Jacqueline Hugee, with significant contributions based on extensive research by her cousins Helen Hage Onley, [Onley History], Terry Gaskill (Whitehead Descendant), and Tiffany Pope (Jerry Redfearn Descendant).

Watt Onley, Sr. was married to Betsy Green and Mary Polly Whitehead. They had roots in Charles City, Virginia.

Austin Picket and (Mary) Dicy Rushing-Redfearn are the parents of Jerry, Albert, Lisby and Ned Redfearn.  They had known roots in Virginia, North and South Carolina.

It is believed that Dicy is a direct descendant of Watt and Betty Green’s relationship.  Helen and Lance are the great-great-great grandchildren of Watt Onley and Betsy Green.  Jacqueline is the great great-granddaughter of Ned and Caroline Redfearn.  Ned is the son of Dicy.

This site is dedicated to the struggles of a family of farmers & housekeepers held together during periods of slavery and sharecropping.

This information has been assembled largely from Ancestry.com, Rootsweb, Familysearch.org, and other resources such as the Charles City County Richard M. Bowman Center for Local History with major contributions from the historian, Judith. In addition, we had some contributions of memories revisited by siblings, cousins, and other family members.

A special thanks to all who provided assistance, historical details and photos, and in any other way.

Let’s keep adding, to make this DNA puzzle whole!  Our Ancestors are surrounding US!!  Love and Peace!
